Congregation Health Ministry Grant Program Opens in March

Wheat Ridge Ministries invites and encourages Lutheran congregations to submit proposals for its Congregation Health Ministry (CHM) Grant Program. The CHM Grant Program enables ministry leaders to move inspired whole person health and wellness ideas into action within congregations through $2,000 matching grants. Learn more…

Wheat Ridge Launches Refuge and Restore Resources

Wheat Ridge has launched Refuge and Restore (R&R), a new collection of resources to equip congregation ministry for military service members and their families. We are partnering with Congregational Resource Guide to promote awareness of important issues and resources available to those leading these ministries. This article is part of that work and was posted on the Washington Post’s On Faith blog on February 11, 2011.

A Closer Look … Lutheran Schools as Centers of Wellness

Thanks to the generous prayers and financial support from our donors, Wheat Ridge Ministries continues to seed new ministries throughout the country … ministries such as Lutheran Schools as Centers of Wellness.

It’s Wednesday afternoon on the remote Navajo reservation at Rock Point, Arizona. Sixty-five bright-eyed students from the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission (NELM) School file into the Mission’s House of Prayer for their weekly chapel session. They spend an hour singing together and learning about the Lord’s Prayer. Then they’re given the chance to write their own prayers to God. One young girl, no more than 10 years old, carefully pens her request: “Dear God, please make mommy quit drinking.”  Read more…
