Rick’s Reflections … The Importance of Play

GrantsPlus Program Deadline Approaching

The deadline to submit initial applications for Wheat Ridge Ministries’ GrantsPlus Program is July 15.  The GrantsPlus Program supports new and innovative health and human care programs led by congregations and nonprofit organizations affiliated with the Lutheran community.  Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000 over two to three years.  Learn more

Is there Hope for Schools in our Cities?

The annual Kieschnick lecture, named for long-time Lutheran educator Melvin Kieschnick, was delivered by Marlene Lund, Executive Director of the Center for Urban Education Ministries, an initiative of Wheat Ridge Ministries, on March 24, 2011 at the Lutheran Education Association Convocation.  The lecture entitled, “Is There Hope for Schools in Our Cities,” addressed the alarming trend of closures of faith-based schools in the cities of the U.S. by identifying schools that have embraced a transition to a new sustainable model.  Read the lecture
