Wheat Ridge Ministries is remembering the life of Reverend Edward C. May, former Executive Director of the Wheat Ridge Foundation and former Superintendent and Chaplain of the Lutheran Sanitarium at Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Pastor May was called to Glory in December at the age of 92. Read more

Wheat Ridge Awards $263,000 to Seed Six New Ministry Projects
Wheat Ridge Ministries recently approved six grants totaling $263,000 that will assist inspired leaders who are serving others and sharing health and hope around the world.
“Wheat Ridge Ministries is excited to offer needed assistance to these Lutheran organizations who seek to bring health and healing to their communities,” said Brian Becker, Vice President for Ministry Programs. Read more

Wheat Ridge Offers “Burst Grants”
Young adults today are being led by faith to respond to significant human care needs in their community. They are an untapped source for inspired solutions and leadership. Their projects often need a little “burst” of support and guidance to get off the ground – that’s what the Burst Project grants are all about. These one-time grants of up to $5,000 are available for a human care ministry project designed and led by young adult leaders in the Lutheran community. Learn more

Making an Impact … The Kuwaa Water Project
Thanks to the generous prayers and financial support from our donors, Wheat Ridge Ministries continues to support inspired leaders around the world as they are developing new and innovative projects … projects such as the Kuwaa Water Project in Liberia.
For many families in the Kuwaa region of Liberia, life stories are composed of daily desperation in the struggle to survive. Jensen Seyenkulo’s family story reads no differently. But after many years away from the area, Jensen has returned to his birthplace to help rewrite the stories of his people, superimposing abundance and hope where want and misery were once the only narratives. Center for Urban Education Ministries to Host National Conference
On March 8-9, 2012, Wheat Ridge Ministries’ Center for Urban Education Ministries, in partnership with Concordia University Wisconsin’s Urban Education Institute and the Siebert Lutheran Foundation, will host, “Innovative Configurations: Helping Faith-Based Universities and Urban Ministries Implement Effective Educational Practices.” The conference will be held on Concordia’s Mequon, Wisconsin, campus and bring together faith-based university representatives and innovative urban education practitioners.
