2009 President’s Circle Retreat

Friends and donors of Wheat Ridge Ministries joined Dr. Rick Herman for the 10th Annual President’s Circle Retreat at the Marriott Downtown in Memphis, Tennessee, on Feb. 15-17, 2009. The gathering brings together individuals from across the country who have made significant contributions to our seeding ministry.

The group received a warm welcome to Memphis from Dr. Scott Morris, founder and executive director of the Church Health Center, which provides quality, affordable healthcare for working, uninsured people and their families. It is the largest faith-based clinic of its type in the country. Over the years, Wheat Ridge Ministries has been blessed to partner with the Church Health Center through numerous seed grants.

President's Circle attendees had the opportunity to tour the Church Health Center community. Here, Ms. Ann Langston, director of the Church Health Center, leads the group into the Clinic, which cares for more than 50,000 patients without relying on government funding.

Attendees also toured the Hope and Healing Center, which offers everything from personalized exercise plans and cooking classes to group exercise classes and activities for children and teens.

Dr. Gary Gunderson, Senior Vice President for Health and Welfare Ministries, Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare, addresses the group on "the leading causes of life" and the strengths of congregations as centers of health and healing.

Plenty of time was built into the President's Circle Retreat for catching up with old friends and forming new friendships.

The devotional time each day was based on the text of Ezekiel 37.
