Wheat Ridge offers a variety of grant programs to enable inspired leaders to make an impact in their community through new and innovative health and human care projects. We currently support over 70 programs in 22 states and 7 countries!

Grant Programs
Burst Project Grants are one-time grants of up to $5,000 for a human care ministry project designed and led by young adult leaders in the Lutheran community. This grant application has a rolling deadline with grants awarded quarterly.
Congregation Health Ministry Grants enable ministry leaders to move inspired whole person health and wellness ideas into action within congregations through $2,000 matching grants. These one-year grants for new and innovative health ministry programs are open to Lutheran congregations committed to becoming centers of health and hope in their community. The application deadline is April 16.
GrantsPlus Grants (formerly Major Grants) considers grant requests for new health and wellness ministries sponsored by congregations, agencies and emerging nonprofit organizations. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $50,000 over one to three years. The program will expect grant recipients to participate in capacity building opportunities that would aid their program development. The application deadline is July 15.
Joshua Grants are available to congregations within the Thrivent Chicagoland Region for programs that courageously serve a need in the local community. Funded in partnership with the Chicagoland Region of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, program will award grants of up to $10,000 over three years. The application deadline is March 30.
Ministry Sabbatical Grants promote a sabbatical leave for rest and renewal to support the whole person health of the ministry leader and the congregation. Up to $7,500 may be awarded to congregations to cover the costs associated with a pastor’s three month sabbatical. The application deadline is January 16.
Lutherans Against Violence Grants (2009-2011) assist congregations interested in starting projects or programs to address violence in their communities and to assist congregations already engaged in projects of this nature. The two-year grant initiative is funded in partnership with – the Northern Illinois District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are no longer accepting applications for this program.
