Health Ministry Self-Study

The Health Ministry Self-Study for Congregations is a process to help congregations assess their involvement in intentional health ministry.

The goals of the process are:

  • To help congregation leaders gain increased understanding of health ministry as a ministry opportunity for the congregation.
  • To help congregation leaders evaluate health ministry efforts in the congregation.
  • To help congregation leaders envision new possibilities for the health and well-being of the faith community.

In the First Article of the church's creed, we gratefully acknowledge God has made me. Nowhere in creation is the handiwork of God more beautifully presented than in an infant. Each one that we see is a reminder of our own beginning. God empowers us to care for ourselves by adopting a lifestyle that brings us to our full potential in our child, youth and adult years. God has made me....and all creatures. All members of the congregation, all people in the community and nation trace their ancestry back to our common parents in Eden. In the spirit of Christ, we are bound to all in our community by a love that the Good Samaritan expressed along the roadside.

The self-study process is designed to help your congregation learn more about the concept of congregation health ministry, assess its current health ministry activities, and establish plans for the future. Your congregation's leaders can decide how to use the self-study document. Congregations desiring outside feedback can choose to complete the self-study and return the completed study to Wheat Ridge Ministries. Wheat Ridge will ask a knowledgeable individual to provide feedback and suggestions to the congregation, based on a review of the material.  Just follow the steps below:

  • Receive a copy of the self-study document by contacting Wheat Ridge Ministries or downloading a copy using the link below.
  • Complete the self-study process. This involves a review of congregation health ministry based on eight health ministry indicators.
  • Use the results of the self-study to develop plans for enhancing the congregation's health ministry.
  • Submit the completed self-study to Wheat Ridge Ministries for feedback (optional).
