Wheat Ridge Ministries’ Sources of Income and Expenses Wheat Ridge Ministries receives donations from individuals, congregations, schools and organizations. These range from gifts as small as one dollar to major gifts in the thousands of dollars. Wheat Ridge also receives gifts from estates and trusts. In addition to contributory revenues, a portion of Wheat Ridge Ministries' income comes from earnings it receives on invested funds. These funds are largely the result of the resources Wheat Ridge received from the sale of the Wheat Ridge Tuberculosis Sanatorium many years ago, and a growing amount of gifts for endowment. Total fiscal year 2008 operating revenues of $3,662,064 were received from the following sources:
When expenditures are made for the purpose intended by a donor, monies are drawn from the restricted funds, and reported as revenue in the operating fund. Contributory revenues, including donations received for specific purposes, totaled $2,645,409 and were received from the following sources:
In fiscal year 2008, 91% of contributed dollars were used in program activities. We funded management and fundraising costs primarily with investment earnings and other income.
Total fiscal year 2008 operating expenses were $3,596,936 of which $2,408,772 was spent on program activities and $1,188,164 on management and fundraising costs as detailed in the chart below:
