Wheat Ridge Efforts in Haiti

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with our brothers and sisters in Haiti as well as the leaders of the many fine relief agencies from around the world, including Lutheran World Relief, LCMS World Relief, and ELCA Disaster Response, who are already on the ground delivering important initial relief services. We encourage you to support them.

Wheat Ridge Ministries has been very involved in Haiti through a special project called Giving Gardens, which provides climate appropriate seeds and training so that individual families can develop sustainable fruit and vegetable gardens. From conversations with our partner in this seeding venture, Hope Seeds, we have learned that fresh food has been disrupted in the area and many wells and water sources have been destroyed. However, as these get working again, the gardens will need to be replanted.

It is evident that once the initial relief activities conclude, people will need assistance with the long-term process of rebuilding their lives. Wheat Ridge Ministries will continue to partner with Hope Seeds to assess needs and to make resources available to restore home gardens and to help more families develop sustainable sources of food. We pray that these efforts will seed health and hope in the lives of people in the name of our healing Christ.
