General Guidelines

Lutherans seeding new ministries of health and hope in the name of the healing Christ.

Wheat Ridge Ministries seeks to improve the health and wellness within communities through engaging congregations and faith-based nonprofit organizations to develop new and innovative programs. Wheat Ridge focuses on developing sustainable programs and a pervasive awareness of Whole Person Health through resourcing programs, equipping leaders, and engaging community partners.

Grant Programs are one of the resources that Wheat Ridge provides to encourage the development of new health and human care ministry by congregations and emerging faith-based organizations. Funding is limited to Lutheran congregations and organizations, or those connected with the Lutheran community. These Grant Guidelines apply for all of our programs and outline general information for you to consider as you prepare your grant proposal. Please visit each respective Grant Program’s application packet for specifics regarding the grant proposal process.

Core Values
The Wheat Ridge Ministries Grant Programs will promote the following values through the grant administration process, including the selection and evaluation of grantees.

Whole Person Health: Health is not merely relief from physical ailments, but also involves restoring integrity to all layers of the whole person – physical, emotional, social, vocational, financial, psychological, and spiritual.

Transformative Relationships: The healing ministry of Christ calls us to live as agents of transformative healing and wellness through relationships.

Service and Justice Oriented: Christians are called to live out their faith through lives of service to bring compassion and hope in an unjust world.

New and Innovative: Creative techniques and programs are vital to expanding effective healing and encouraging life-affirming habits.

Organizational Integrity: The principles of Biblical stewardship including honesty, productivity, transparency, and accountability are central to our ministry and the ministries that we support.

Assessing and Learning: Relevant assessment and continual learning cultivate creative responses to opportunities and challenges.

Multiplier Effect: By sharing ministry successes and failures, we encourage and strengthen our fellow ministers, and multiply the impact of our resources.
